Walk description: Starting with a talk by local historian Stuart Gough in the Corrie Golf Club tearoom, the walk will start in Glen Sannox quickly getting to the grave of Edwin Rose. The walk continues up the glen to the navigation beacons, past the remains of a former Barytes mine, across Sannox Burn and upstream into the glacial valley looking up into Coire nam Fuaran where Rose’s body was eventually found. Continuing on, a good mountain path leads up to the Saddle (432m), reached by a hands-on scramble up a steep and rocky chimney. A steep walk up to North Goatfell follows allowing you to look down into Coire nam Fuaran and wonder for yourself – pushed or fell? And then a decision: either take the ‘cop out’ route or go over the Stacach to Goatfell – both are exciting! Then come off Goatfell and head down to the Corrie Hotel, where the alleged murderer spent the evening buying drinks, and where the group can arrive at a verdict!
