What to expect
This trip will launch off the southern tip of Arran, where there are spectacular seascapes and an abundance of marine wildlife. We will spend some time exploring the coastline around Kildonan and there will be plenty of time for one-to-one tuition. This will be followed by a crossing to the uninhabited Isle of Pladda, where we will have a picnic lunch. This coastal area is one of the best places for close-up views of seals.
Suitability / Grading: Easy
This trip is designed for complete beginners with an average level of fitness. We're not trying to set any speed or distance records, but you may feel some new muscles by the end of the day. Older teens (16-17 years) are welcome on this trip.
What we supply
We supply participants with a kayak, a paddle and all specialist equipment from wet suit to cagoules. We also supply a personal flotation device, which we will wear whilst on the water. We have a selection of wet suit socks to keep your feet extra warm but do recommend you bring along a pair of shoes you don’t mind getting wet. We also offer a packed lunch and warm drink. Please advise any special dietary requirements.
What to bring with you
Please bring along swim wear to wear under the wetsuit, as well as a towel. We recommend you bring along a pair of shoes you don't mind getting wet, an extra jumper/waterproof jacket and sun hat/lotion. Please supplement your packed lunch with additional food or water, as you wish.
